Getting Started
Magpie will be continuously fundraising throughout 2025 towards our goal of opening our own store. Having a permanent location for a resell shop and a classroom space will help establish a self-sustaining income stream for the organization.
We will always be asking for financial support for growth projects, and to help fill the gap between accessible services and fair wages for our employees.

The Future
While we are proud of what we have accomplished so far, the work is just beginning. Our next priorities include:
- Expand Educational Programming – Our education programming has started even before we have our own classroom space! We are hosting classes at partner locations, and partnering with artists as instructors, to offer inspiration and skills for reuse. We will be expanding educational opportunities as our resources allow.
- Expand Shopping Events – We are hosting Pop-Up Shops on the first Sunday of the month. Look for opportunities to start shopping for reuse materials in 2025!
- Magpie Creative Reuse Collective Store Front – We are looking for a location to eventually open our store. That’s when the magic will really start to happen.
- Long Term Goals – Once Magpie Creative Reuse Collective store is open for business, we will work to offer a variety of resources.
- Field trips for students exploring sustainable textile and product design.
- A maker space and classroom available to rent for maker classes and parties.
- A discount membership for business owners to make it more economical to incorporate reuse supplies into their business model.
- Artist and product design residencies that focuses on reuse.
- Machinery like small scale recycling molds and textile granulators that will allow us to teach people how to process more waste into usable products – truly transforming trash into something useful.
- Field trips for students exploring sustainable textile and product design.
We Are
A start up non-profit Creative Reuse Center in Kansas City. Our mission is collecting and reselling leftover and remnant material, using collective work to keep things useful longer.
