Magpie Creative Reuse Collective offers classes and events focused on inspiring reuse. We teach skills, and encourage creative thinking, to transform materials through reuse, upcycling, downcycling, recycling and repair.

8/20 Digital Reset with Tidy For Good
Take a master class with Kim Shiu from Tidy for Good to declutter and organize your own devices in real time. Free up space for your mind and your hard drive storage.
Time: 6:00 – 7:30pm

9/3 Kaleidoscope Necklace
Join Whiskey & Bone to make one-of-a-kind beaded necklaces from used and leftover beads.
In this class you will make a single, 18” necklace. Tarrah will guide you on how to design your piece, and how to start and finish your necklace with different mixed metal findings.

9/5 Mish Mash Mobile
Join Tara from Lost and Found Designs to make a doodads and whositwhatsits mobile. Think of yourself as the little mermaid and you have collected your own sparkly thing-a-ma-bob! We will have seashells, tumbled glass and ceramic bits, wood scraps, jewelry beads and baubles. In this workshop you will learn to solder with lead free materials.

9/13 Mending with Heather
Learn to mend your clothes! Join sewist Heather Anacker to practice the basics of mending.
Time: 1:00 – 4:00pm

9/20 Beginner Sashiko
Join Dan Miller from Sashiko Dan to learn the fast-stitch art of Sashiko, including history, modern uses, and pattern design while decorating your own patch to continue the tradition of clothing repair and upcycling.
Time: 1:00pm – 3:30pm

10/3 Sustainable Fabric Brooch
Fabric bits and special stitches become the softest brooches in this hands on workshop with artist Aimee Hagedorn. Guests will play in piles of colorful fabric scraps to design their own signature piece.

10/24 Scraps to Scarabs
In this fabric scraps focused workshop, guests will experiment with 3D form and hand stitching to create their own one of a kind beetle brooch. There couldn’t be a more delightful way to transform materials that would otherwise be considered waste.

11/1 & 11/8 Ceramic Paint Palette
Create a unique paint pallete out of recycled clay! This is a two day class. The first day will be spent creating your paint pallete out of recycled and rehydrated clay. After the palletes are fired, we will come back and paint them with underglaze.

11/19 Ribbon Awards
Find a reason to bestow honors and make your own dazzling award for the occasion. We will turn scrap ribbon into a DIY awards with added ruffles, tassel, or baubles for pizazz.

Make a tiny woodland fairy house for all the small creatures that wander the forest. Turn leftover cardboard, corks, and other recycled materials into a cute forest abode – Free!

Teens can craft with wire, beads, and leftover things you can find at home. Make a tiny person or wearable ring from wire and beads. Free!

Learn a few embroidery stitches in this beginner-friendly hand sewing class with. We’ll use scrap felt, fabric, and ribbon to create homemade stars. Free!
